BitterSweetz opens each first Sunday of the month from 16.00-18.00 for small art events. From strumming guitars, opera singers to stories and fairy tales… Of course you can enjoy all this with a delicious glass of wine and the mindblowing sweetz and bites for which BitterSweetz is known! The entrance is free and for every age. Simply enjoy fun and pretty things…

Marjolein de Raat with Punto Buwano at BitterSweetz

Marjolein en Punto

Soprano Marjolein de Raat has been singing since her childhood and discovered her love for classic and old muziek at the age of 16. She was taught by Femke Hockx, Yuko Amagasaki and is currently studying Classic Singing at the Royal Conservatory under the instruction of Rita Dans. Additionally, she sings in several student- and project choirs, including Collegium Musicum in Leinde and the Nieuwe Mannheim Choir and Orchestra. In 2016, she finished the Practicum Musicum-program at the Royal Conservatory with a 8,5.

During the Net Iets Anders event at BitterSweetz, she’ll sing Italian, English and French baroque music by Purcell, Strozzi Amanti, Ferrari Ombre, Lambert Graves, Huygens & Monteverdi and she will be supported by lutanist Punto Bawono and viola da gambaplayer Alessia Travaglini, who previously supported  Soprano Cally Youdell.

Block6 The Hague (2015) will perform

Block6 The Hague is a varied blockflute ensemble of six players with different backgrounds and origins. All of them studied at the Royal Conservatory The Hague and they origin from South-Korea, France, Japan, The Netherlands and Switzerland. The repertoire they’re playing will mostly consist of renaissance music and will be performed on a collection of recorders that were used during this period. By playing this music together, it will create a challenging and enriching experience with magical moments that we would love to invite the listener to.

Artist/Illustrator Yara Ruby creates ‘Tiny Portraits’

On Sunday 3rd of July, you are more than welcome between 16.00 and 18.00 to have a ‘Tiny Portrait’ made by Yara Ruby. These unique pieces of art cost €5,00 a piece and will be created on the spot.You can find more information on Yara Ruby on her website.

Soprano Cally Youdell will sing

You are more than welcome on Sunday, 5th of June 2017, between 16.00 and 18.00, to come and enjoy the performance by Soprano Cally Youdell. She will sing some pieces by Henry Purcell, arias by Georg Friedrich Händel and an arrangement of the national anthem by Benjamin Britten.

Emiline van Gorp reads the fairy tale Prins Lintworm


Next April 3rd, 2017, you are most welcome between 16.o0 and 18.00 to listen to Emiline. She will come and read a beautiful fairy tale, because – let’s be honest – we all like to spend our Sunday afternoon dreaming, right?
